
Firearm Condition & Handling
- All firearms must have the action open and contain no live or spent shells, except when the shooter is on the firing line.
- Break-open firearms may be closed while in a gun rack, and may not contain a live or spent shell.
- All firearms must remain pointed downrange at all times.
- Never move from a station with a loaded firearm.
- After any abnormal discharge, the barrel must be checked with a ramrod before continuing.
Ammunition & Load Restrictions
- No shot size larger than #7½ is permitted.
- Game loads are not allowed.
- Maximum recommended loads are:
1250 on the trap field
1150 on the skeet field

- 1290 FPS with a maximum shot charge of 1⅛ oz
- 1325 FPS with a maximum shot charge of 1 oz
- 1350 FPS with a maximum shot charge of ⅞ oz
- These velocities and shot charges are maximums and may not be exceeded.
- Shot charges may not exceed the stated maximum by more than 3%.
Loading & Shooting Procedures
- Load only one shell for singles.
- Load only two shells for doubles.
- Pick up only your own empty shells, and only after your squad has completed shooting.
Malfunctions & Duds
- All duds and misfired shells must be removed from club grounds by the owner or placed in the designated Dud Container.
- Do not leave misfired shells on the ground or dispose of them in the trash.
- Always keep the firearm pointed in a safe direction and clear malfunctions safely.
Cease Fire Procedures
- When a cease fire is called, all firearms must be immediately unloaded and actions opened.
Range Access & Supervision
- Only individuals who are actively shooting are permitted on the trap field.
- Only authorized personnel are permitted forward of the 16-yard line.
- Guests may only use the range when accompanied by a Charter or Associate Member.
- Only one guest may shoot at a time, under direct visual supervision.

- The supervising member may not shoot while supervising.
- No one under the age of 18 may shoot on the trap fields without direct supervision by a Member.
New Shooters & Competency
- No one may discharge a firearm they are not knowledgeable about or capable of operating.

- This does not prohibit instruction or assistance.
- The Range Officer has full discretion regarding shooter competency.
- First-time trap shooters must complete their first round with experienced shooters or under the supervision of an experienced individual approved by the Range Officer.
Personal Conduct & Protective Equipment
- Eye and hearing protection are required for all shooters, scorers, referees, and trap personnel.
- Be courteous and respectful to fellow shooters, volunteers, and staff.
- Alcohol or drug use is strictly prohibited before or during shooting.

- No person may operate a firearm after consuming alcohol or drugs.
Legal Compliance & Enforcement
- All federal and state firearm laws must be obeyed at all times.
- Failure to comply with these rules may result in immediate removal from the range and may lead to suspension or termination of membership.
