Firing Line
- Shooting in front of the 25-yard firing line is permitted.
- The firing line is set by the person who is positioned farthest downrange (closest to the berm). This is determined on a first-arrived basis and may be mutually agreed upon when other shooters arrive.
- Once the firing line has been established, no one may handle firearms behind the firing line.
- Firearms must be unloaded and holstered, bagged or cased when moving to and from the firing line.
Approved Ammunition and Firearms
- The range is limited to pistol caliber ammunition only
- Armor-piercing, tracer, and incendiary ammunition are prohibited on club property.
- Handguns and .22 Long Rifle firearms (rimfire rifles) are permitted in the Pistol Range. Shotguns, pistol-caliber carbines, and all centerfire rifles are strictly prohibited.
Approved Targets & Placement
- Fire only at approved targets. Shooting at glass, cans, or other non-approved objects is prohibited.
- Approved targets include:
- Paper / cardboard targets
- Ballistic rubber targets
- Clay targets
- Steel targets are prohibited on the Pistol Range unless approved by the Executive Board
- Paper targets must be hung on target stands between 42 inches and 72 inches high. It is the shooter’s responsibility to ensure that the bullet impact is into the backstop berm.
- Clay targets placed on the pistol range berm must be no higher than 48 inches and must have a proper backstop.
- All targets must be placed in the backstop target holders only.
- No targets may be placed on the ground. All targets must be mounted on target stands.
- Cross-firing is prohibited.
- Equipment may be placed on a small stand, bench or barrel when resetting targets.
Holsters & Special Use
Drawing from a holster is allowed on the Pistol Range with the following stipulations.
- Dominant side hip and appendix holsters are permitted.
- Cross-draw and rearward-facing holsters are prohibited.
- Firearm safeties must be engaged while drawing.
- Drawing and holstering is permitted only at the established firing line
Hours or Operation
- Range hours are from 9:00 AM to sunset as published by Weather.com or on a smartphone.
