Join us on Sundays for Skeet at 9 AM on our Skeet Field. We also offer off hours shooting all of the time when the ranges are open after completing orientation on skeet machines. For those who do not know what Skeet is: Here is a video about station 1 at the high house and low house. Skeet is a game of skill. Shooting from 8 stations on a field that you rotate around. The Targets stay the same, the shooter moves about the field to shoot at the Clays being thrown from the High House and the Low House. Squads of up to 5 shooters make a relay. One person will act as the referee for each squad ensuring safety and control. | How to Play the GameThe Skeet FieldSkeet Shooting Overview Today’s skeet field remains largely unchanged from its origins in the 1920s. The field consists of eight shooting stations and two trap houses. Seven stations are arranged in a semicircle between the trap houses, with the eighth station positioned directly between them. The high house, located on the left side of the field, releases targets from a trap positioned 10 feet above the ground. The target rises to approximately 15 feet as it reaches the center of the field. The low house, on the right side, throws targets from a height of 3½ feet, with its targets also rising to 15 feet at the center of the field. A Round of Skeet A standard round of skeet consists of 25 targets, including 17 singles and 8 doubles. The first missed target is immediately repeated and is referred to as the option. If the shooter completes the round without a miss, the 25th target is taken at Station 8 (low house). Shooting Sequence
Skeet is shot in squads of up to five shooters, who rotate through each station around the semicircle, finishing at the center station at the conclusion of the round. Equipment and Participation Any gauge shotgun may be used, provided it is capable of firing at least two shots. The preferred shot size is #9, and shot larger than 7½ is not permitted. Skeet shooting emphasizes timing and technique rather than strength, allowing men and women to compete on equal footing. Both left- and right-handed shooters are equally well suited to the sport.
