Introduction to Action Shooting

If you are interested in becoming involved in action shooting programs and are unfamiliar with the etiquette, rules and procedures of the competitions, we encourage attending this program to get started.  Please do not register for an action pistol live fire program without this base knowledge.


Beginner Level Skills Development Program

Primary Manager- Brian Fredholm


This program is appropriate for people who would like to become involved in action shooting programs and have attended the “Introduction to Action Shooting” classroom program.


Intermediate Level Skills Development Program

Primary Manager- Brian Fredholm


This program is appropriate for participants who have a basic skills level in action shooting. This is NOT a beginner's program. Membership in IDPA or USPSA is recommended. A basic knowledge of the rules of action shooting is required (commands, muzzle safety, fault lines, safe table. etc.) Competitors with an IDPA classification of Sharpshooter, Marksman or Novice or USPSA classification of D or C are qualified.

All participants will be required to have the following equipment:

  • Centerfire pistol

  • Minimum of 3 magazines

  • OWB competition holster

  • Belt mounted magazine pouches with 2 magazine capacity

  • Competition quality belt

  • Eye and ear protection

  • 100 rounds of ammunition


Advanced Level Skills Development Program

Primary Manager- Brian Fredholm


Advanced level skills development is a two month, 2-workshop program that meets on the fourth Sunday evening of each month from 6:00-8:00 PM. This program is open to experienced action shooters with IDPA classifications of Sharpshooter, Expert and Master and USPSA classifications of A and B. The instructors will be analyzing the participants’ current techniques and provide corrective recommendations. Benchmark standardized drills will be recorded so that participants can measure progress over time.

During the Winter months the program is limited to 8 active participants, although waiting listed registrants are welcome to observe. When there is enough daylight during the Summer months, more registrants will be included.
