ACTION SHOOTING EVENTS

The Holbrook Sportsmen’s Club hosts several action shooting programs including  "IDPA", “Action Pistol”, “Multi-Gun” and “Low light” events.  Members who are unfamiliar with these events are encouraged to attend and learn before registering.  If you are new to the sport, please do not purchase any new equipment.  Rather, practice with what you have, borrow equipment and learn from others before buying.  Other attendees are always welcoming and willing to teach.

Action pistol is a great way to practice with your carry gun, while others may use advanced open guns.  The goal of these programs is to become more proficient at firearms handling and to practice the skills that you will use in competitive and defensive scenarios.

Pistol events require, at minimum, a centerfire firearm, belt mounted dominant hand positioned holster and a quality belt.

IDPA

We are a sanctioned club with the IDPA (International Defensive Pistol Association).

Matches are held on the first Sunday of each month.  This is a handgun only program.  PCC is not allowed.

The following ranges are closed for this event:

The Sunday morning Action Pistol program is designed to be both instructional and competitive.  We incorporate the skills used in action pistol sports (USPSA and IDPA) into 3-4 timed match stages.   This is an intermediate level program and matches are not sanctioned by, or affiliated with, any action shooting organization.  Attendees will draw from the holster, shoot on the move, engage moving and disappearing targets, use barricades, as well as practice other skills.

If you would like to be on the mailing list for upcoming events, please send me your email address through the below link.

Space is limited and this is a first come event.  A registration link is sent out via email approximately 10-14 days before each event.

If you are an HSC member and need additional training before attending a match event, please email me to schedule a time to meet.  Also, if you are an HSC member and would like coaching on various skills, a training time will be arranged.  There is a $5.00 per person club donation for a 1-hour group program (maximum 5 attendees, time to be determined, based on need).
